Armstrong Catherine

Cathryn Skedel, Ph.D.,  Principal

Cathryn Skedel joined the Stoney Creek High School faculty as principal in October 2014. Dr. Skedel previously served as the principal of Parcells Middle School in the Grosse Pointe Public School System for 4 years and as the assistant principal/athletic director at both Harrison High School and O.E. Dunckel Middle School in Farmington Hills for 8 years prior to coming to the Rochester Community Schools. She also served as Director of Fine Arts and as a secondary music teacher in the communities of Farmington Hills and Warren, MI. Dr. Skedel earned her B.M.E. and M.M. degrees from The Ohio State University in Columbus, OH, and her Ed. Specialist in School Administration and Ph.D. in Educational Leadership from Oakland University in Rochester, MI.



Charles May, Assistant Principal

Chuck May is in his fourth year as an assistant principal at Stoney Creek and has been a member of Rochester Community Schools for the past 25 years. He will be working with the classes of 2020 and 2022. He has been an assistant principal for 18 years; three years at RHS, five years at Reuther Middle School, and the past six years at AHS. He began as a Math teacher and counselor at Rochester High School.


Mr. May earned his undergraduate teaching degree in Math and Business Education from Central Michigan University. He holds a Master’s Degree in Guidance and Counseling from Eastern Michigan University, and a second Master’s Degree in Educational Administration from CMU.




Brian Shelson, Assistant Principal


Brian Shelson joined the administrative team as an assistant principal at Stoney Creek in August 2017.  He will be working with the classes of 2019 and 2021.  Mr. Shelson previously served as an assistant principal/athletic director at Grosse Pointe North High School and as an assistant principal/athletic director at Lapeer High School prior to coming to SCHS.  Mr. Shelson's professional career includes working as a high school science teacher in the Widefield School District in Colorado Springs, CO., Plymouth Canton Community Schools and the Grosse Pointe Public School system.  He has also worked at the University of Michigan in Undergraduate Admissions.  Mr. Shelson earned his Bachelor of Science degree from Grand Valley State University and his Master of Education degree from Saginaw Valley State University.
