Enrollment
The enrollment process opened in January 2025.
Families interested in the Great Start Readiness Program (GSRP) are asked to complete the Oakland County Early Childhood Application. GSRP is a free preschool program for children who turn 4 on or before September of that year and whose families meet eligibility guidelines. Please note this is a process implemented throughout Oakland County, supported by the Help Me Grow Care Coordinators at Great Start Collaborative Oakland County and Oakland Schools Early Childhood Consultants. Please see below for the two phase process. The application process can take a few weeks to complete. All applications are processed in the order in which they were received.

Prioritization of Enrollment
Children are enrolled on a priority basis.
Oakland Schools Great Start Readiness Program (GSRP) Recruitment and Enrollment Plan:

January 1st- Begin enrolling up to 500% and all Categorically Eligible Children within the 25% IEP limitation and must be for years old by September 1st.
- February 1st- Enroll families that have been enrolled with the sub-recipient previously even if residing out of district. This includes children that turn four through December 1st. This includes families that are in households over 500% FPL.
- March 1st- In addition to those enrolled starting February 1st, enroll over income based on sub-recipient specific percent (Rochester- 15% per location). The child must be four years old by September 1st if not a returning family.
- May 1st- Enroll all age eligible children (including those with birthdates between 09/02/21-12/01/21) regardless of income up to the estimated allocation the program has available to fill. *updated 04/10/25
- August 1st- In addition to those enrolled starting May 1st, LEAs can enroll children that reside outside their district and have not been enrolled with the sub-recipient previously.

- Check the box for "Do you have a specific preschool you would like to apply for?"
- Make sure to select Rochester and then Rochester Community Schools. *Please note if you select Rochester Hills as the city, the only available program option listed will be KinderCare and you will not be assigned to Rochester Community Schools Pre-K.
- We have GSRP at 4 locations for the 2025-2026 school year (Brewster Elementary, Hampton Elementary, North Hill Elementary, and University Hills Elementary). We offer Monday-Thursday school day programs (8:45-3:45) or half day programs (8:45-11:45). We have one half day program that runs in the afternoon (12:45-3:45).

Ms. Larson, Teacher
This is Ms. Larson's 11th year of teaching Pre-K in RCS. She has an Associate's Degree in Early Childhood Development from Oakland Community College and a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education from Oakland University, Ms. Larson always knew she wanted to be a teacher from a very young age, playing school with her siblings and cousins. She says that the best thing about teaching is "the kids, learning and playing with them each day".
Ms. Larson has a big family who she is very close with. She has an older sister, younger brother, and younger sister. When Ms. Larson is not teaching, she enjoys the outdoors. She loves paddle boarding, hiking, photography, and baking. Her favorite color is purple, her favorite foods are pizza, Pad Thai, and ice cream.
Ms. Godin, Associate Teacher
This is Ms. Godin's 4th year of teaching in RCS Pre-K. She is currently working on her education in Early Childhood. She says the best thing about teaching is "getting to know the kids and see their growth throughout the year."
Ms. Godin has one younger sister, and her parents have 2 dogs and a cat, while she has one cat named Gizmo. Her favorite color is purple, her favorite foods are pasta and sushi, and she enjoys traveling with friends and family and loves to swim.
Mrs. Hunsanger, Caregiver
This is Mrs. Hunsanger's 10thth year of teaching at RCS. She went to college at Oakland University. She says the best thing about teaching is "seeing the children grow and being able to make a difference in their lives."
Mrs. Hunsanger and her husband, Joel, have two children, Nicholas and Lyndsey. Nicholas is a graduate of the University of Michigan and currently an Engineer. Lyndsey is a graduate of Michigan State University and is a Registered Nurse. Mrs. Hunsanger's favorite color is yellow, her favorite food is pizza, her favorite place is Hawaii, and she enjoys arts & crafts and nature walking and biking.

Mrs. Youngblood, Teacher
This is Mrs. Youngblood's 11th year of teaching, and her 4th year as a lead teacher. She earned a Bachelor's Degree in Communicaitons from Western Michigan University and a second Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education from Rochester University. She says the best thing about teaching is "getting to know the children and families in our community and learning so much from each other."
Mrs. Youngblood, and her husband, Tim, have four children, Peyton, Lucy, JT, and Wade. They also have two dogs (Rufus and Cosi) and two cats (Twyla and Del Griffith). Her favorite food is bananas and she lvoes dancing in her kitchen, enjoys bonfires in her backyard with her family, reading, and running.
Mrs. Sangeorzan, Associate Teacher
This is Mrs. Sangeorzan's 4th year working in RCS Pre-K. She went to college at Michigan State University and is currently working on her Master's of Early Childhood from Northern Michigan University. She says the best thing about teaching is "getting to know the children and families in our wonderful community."
Mrs. Sangeorzan is married and has 3 children. She enjoys spending time up north at her family cottage and relaxing by the lake. Her favorite color is blue, her favorite food is pizza, and in her spare time she likes to spend time with her family and snuggling their two kitties.

Mrs. Perrera, Lead Teacher
This is Mrs. Perrera's 9th year of teaching preschool and 6th non-consecutive year with RCS Pre-K. She attended Michigan State University and holds a Bachelor's Degree in Child Development. She says the best thing about teaching is "having fun with my friends."
Mrs. Perrera lives with her husband Sean and three children, Grace, Gianna, and Vincent. They also have two dogs, Pippi and Zeus, and two cats, Albus and Bella. Her favorite color is green, her favorite food is pizza, and her favorite place is Skiing in Boyne. In her free time she loves to read and watch her daughters compete in competitive cheerleading.
Mrs. Muirhead, AssociateTeacher
This is Mrs. Muirhead's 9th year of teaching. She received her Bachelor's in Early Chilhdood Eduation at the University of Panama. She says the best thing about teaching is "helping and being a guide for children, to build their personality and confidence and to be prepared for life."
Her family is the most important thing in her life. Her favorite color is blue, her favorite food is rice & pork, and she enjoys painting and walking in her free time.
Mrs. Salina, Caregiver
This is Mrs. Salina's 16th year in preschool and her 4th year with RCS Pre-K. She attended Central Michigan Unversity. She says the best thing about teaching is "watching children learn and grow!"
Mrs. Salina and her husband, Nick, have been married for 9 years and have a son named Carter. Her favorite color is teal, her favorite food is tacos and chocolate, and she enjoys reading and spending time outside at her favorite place, Paint Creek Trail!
Hampton Room 31 ~ Ms. Pleshak, Ms. Villarreal Garza, & Mrs. Salina
Ms. Pleshak, Teacher
This is Ms. Pleshak's 6th year teaching. She has a Bachelor's Degree in Sociology and a Master's Degree in Early Childhood Education from Oakland University. She says the best thing about teaching is "helping children learn new information."
Ms. Pleshak has a Westiepoo named Mo who she rescued at a year old. Her favorite color is purple, her favorite food is Mexican, and she enjoys baking.
Ms. Villarreal Garza, Associate Teacher
This is Ms. Villarreal Garza's 3rd year teaching in early childhood and 2nd year with RCS Pre-K. She has an Associate's Degree in Early Childhood Education from Oakland Community College. She says the best thing about teaching is "helping students and making an impact on shaping who they will become."
Ms. Villarreal Garza was born in Monterrey, Mexico and has been living in Michigan for the past 10+ years with her sister, mom, and dad. All of her aunts, uncles, cousins, and grandparents live in Monterrey and they visit every year during the holidays. Her favorite colors are aquamarine and light blue, her favorite food is pasta (Mac & Cheese and Fettuccine Alfredo), and her favorite places are Mexico and Disney World. She enjoys reading, hanging out with her family, and going to the movies in her free time.

Ms. Piggott, Teacher
This is Ms. Piggott's 8th year of teaching and she has been in the Early Childhood Education field for the past 15 years. She attended Central Michigan University where she received her Bachelor's degree in Child Development. She says that best thing about teaching is "experiencing the pure joy and excitement that children have when they are learning."
Ms. Piggott's family consists of her mom, older brother, sister-in-law, 5 year old nephew and her dog JinU. Her favorite color is purple. Her favorite food is chicken. Her favorite place is the beach and she enjoys family vacations and girl time with her friends.
Mrs. Kirtland, Associate Teacher
This is Mrs. Kirtland's 3nd year working with RCS Pre-K and first year as a GSRP Associate Teacher. She recently recieved her Child Development Associate (CDA) credential.
