Free Pre-K

Michigan's Great Start Readiness Program (GSRP) is available to RCS children who turn 4 years old by Dec. 1 of that school year. This free, nationally ranked program helps prepare children for kindergarten. For assistance, call 844-456-5437.

Registration begins at the county level through Michiagn Early Childhood Connect (MiECC). Please note, this is a multi-phase process coordinatored between the county and our early childhood program.

Enrollment Priorities and Timeline
Date Range	Enrollment Group	Details

New families can submit an application beginning January 5, 2026. The chart below identifies the date when a family can move from application to enrolled by a program.
January 5, 2026	Priority Enrollment	Enroll children up to 400% FPL who will be four years old by September 1, 2026.
March 1, 2026	Expanded Enrollment	Enroll children up to 750% FPL who will be four years old by December 1, 2026.
May 1, 2026	All Documented Income	Enroll children at any income who will be four years old by December 1, 2026 up to the estimated allocation of slots the program has available to fill.
August 1, 2026	Final Enrollment Phase	Families that prefer not to self-report income on the application and those who are out of district will be able to enroll in the program if spots remain.

Phase One:

Apply for GSRP/ PreK for All

Parents must complete the application at the following link: https://version4.miecc.org/CaregiverPortal/63

Required Uploads:

Proof of age (child must be four years old on or before December 1, 2026)
Proof of residence

Phase Two:

Program-Specific Application

Following the initial application, families will complete a program-specific application. This process supports families in preparing for a successful start to preschool and may include:

Immunization records and physical examination
Child Information Record
Free and Reduced Meal Family Application
