ESL Classes at RACE


 English as a Second Language

Many People, One World Study English at RACE. Learn English speaking, listening, reading, writing, grammar, and pronunciation skills. Also, understand idioms, practice your conversation skills, or study to be a U.S. citizen. Trained and certified teachers use up-to-date materials, teaching, and active learning methods to teach English in a friendly atmosphere. Some classes use Internet language learning software and other computer programs to enhance individual language development. Learn while having fun and meeting new friends.

Rochester, Rochester Hills and Oakland Township residents ONLY (you must bring proof of residency) AND students who were registered in the last session (September-December 2015): 



Registration for Residents and Non Residents:

TBA from 9am to Noon OR 6-9pm

Late registration, if needed, will take place on TBA


What do you need to bring to registration?

  • $60 non-refundable testing fee (cash or check only)
  • Proof of birth (e.g. Driver’s license, passport, birth certificate)
  • Proof of Rochester residency for the first day (August 26th) of registration 


You must arrive at designated time (9am or 6pm). Registration is NOT open all day. Plan to spend at least 2 hours for registration and testing for this free class. No children at registration please. Spaces are limited. Once spaces fill up, there will only be the opportunity to be put on a waiting list.


These classes run from September to December. If you can not attend class for that length of time, please do not register. We would like to have spaces available to people who are planning on staying for the whole course. 

Course Information

Classes will meet two days a week with two different sessions offered:

Mondays and Wednesdays

9am - 12:15pm OR 6pm - 9:15 pm

Classes will run from September to December 2015


January to May 2016

Please be prepared to attend all sessions.
