The Reflections Program is the nations oldest and largest PTA arts recognition and achievement program of its kind. For 45 years over 10 Million students across the nation have taken part in this renowned PTA program. Students have the opportunity for their works of art to be recognized from the local, District/Regional, State to the National Levels.

PTA believes all children deserve a quality arts education. “Research shows that involvement in the arts is closely associated with students’ academic achievement, social and emotional development, and civic engagement. The arts as a core academic subject is essential for a complete and balanced education for all students,” said Otha Thornton, president of National PTA. “PTA has long supported the arts, and it is a top priority of the association to ensure that all children have access to arts programs and classes… The National PTA Reflections program provides students the opportunity to experience and be involved in the arts.” “The excitement and enthusiasm that the program generates for our students, parents, schools and community is one that is unparalleled by any other in Michigan”, said Monika Babiak, former RCS PTA Reflections Chair. “We are helping to build a foundation of Education including the Arts”.

  • Divisions
  • Primary: PreK-Grade 2
  • Intermediate: Grade 3-5
  • Middle/Junior: Grades 6-8
  • Senior: Grades 9-12
  • Special Artist: Non-Graded

The Special Artist Division of the National PTA Reflections Program is a non-graded division limited to students with physical, cognitive, or mental health challenges. Rules and guidelines within the Special Artist Division are intended to ensure accessibility to the program and are modeled after the guidelines outlined in the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).

Qualifying students may choose to participate in this non-graded division with non-artistic assistance from an adult/teacher OR they may choose to participate in the general divisions following all arts category rules in the division that most closely aligns to their functional abilities; without assistance.

Students entries are judged in their portrayal and interpretation of the annual theme, use of materials, and any use of simple or variety of techniques applicable to each category. Judging is done at the local school, District, State and National levels respectively.
