Upcoming at the Rochester Hills Public Library

Residents of Rochester, Rochester Hills, and Oakland Township, don’t miss these exciting events at Rochester Hills Public Library.

All youth programs are funded by the Friends of the Rochester Hills Public Library.

Registration is online.

Registration for all programs open one week prior to the program at 9 a.m. unless otherwise noted. Check descriptions to see who needs to be registered (children only, children and adults).

All programs are FREE and open to resident cardholders only.

Each child who registers for library programs must have his or her own library card and be a resident of Rochester, Rochester Hills, or Oakland Township.

Polar Express Celebration Friday, December 2, 6:30-9pm All ages Throughout the library PLEASE REGISTER ALL ADULTS AND CHILDREN ATTENDING. Registration is open to residents only (not relatives of residents) and begins Friday, Nov 18th. Cookie decorating, elf certification, ornament making, letters to the North Pole, music, story time, and “train” rides through the Big Bright Light Show.

Paws for Reading Every Wednesday, 6-7:15pm Youth Room Practice your reading with trained therapy dogs Trinity or Abby and their trainers Bill or Amanda! Call 248-650-7140 to schedule your 15 minute appointment.

Candy Science Thursday, December 15, 7-7:45pm Ages 4-8 Story room REGISTER ALL CHIDREN ATTENDING. Come join us for some fun candy stories, then use science and experimentation to dissolve candy canes and gummy worms. Please come prepared to have fun and keep in mind that we may get messy!

Yoga Story Saturday December 17, January 21, and February 18, 10-11am Grades K-2 Multipurpose Room REGISTER ALL CHILDREN ATTENDING. Help your children learn mindfulness by practicing various yoga poses. Put the poses together and we will tell a story! Caregivers must attend with child.  Bring a beach towel or a yoga mat and dress in comfortable clothes.

The Science of Hansel and Gretel’s World Saturday, December 17, 2-3pm Grades K-5 Story room REGISTER ALL CHILDREN ATTENDING. KIDS UNDER 7 MUST BRING A CAREGIVER. Come listen to a story about Hansel and Gretel, then build your own house made of sweets. Experiment with different candy and treats to see which of them makes the most stable house!

Personalized Party! Thursday, December 22, 3-5pm Grades K-8 Multipurpose Room PLEASE REGISTER ALL CHILDREN ATTENDING. What's in a name? Drop in any time between 3 and 5pm to make crafts with your name (or a friend's) to keep or give away!

Lego Time! December 27, 2-3pm; January 17, 7-8pm; February 21, 2-3pm Grades K-8 with a caregiver Multipurpose Room REGISTER ALL CHILDREN & ADULTS ATTENDING. Join us to build with library Legos & then display your creation in the Youth Room.
