Transitional Kindergarten Information Video
What is Transitional Kindergarten?
Transitional kindergarten provides an opportunity for students to build social-emotional and academic skills in preparation for kindergarten.
- Transitional kindergarten is designed to create a two-year kindergarten experience for students who may benefit from such an intervention. Students attend kindergarten the year following transitional kindergarten.
- Children turning five-years-old between June 1 and December 1 may consider transitional kindergarten.
- Transitional kindergarten offers students opportunities to grow and learn through a play-based curriculum that supports a child’s cognitive, physical, and social and emotional development. It is built upon a blending of the Reggio Emilia-inspired philosophy, High Scope program, and kindergarten standards.
- Transitional kindergarten is a full-day program. Transportation is provided for families residing within the school transportation areas.
