The State of Michigan and the Rochester Community Schools Board of Education set policies and regulations for all purchasing activity within our district.  Revised School Code 380.1267 and 380.1274 determine thresholds for competitive bidding and set specific restrictions for construction, renovation, remodeling, and repair of district property as well as rules for procurement of supplies, materials, and equipment.  Information on all purchasing that requires competitive bidding for this fiscal year can be found on this page.

RCS has selected to use the online procurement services of BidNet Direct  to host bid opportunities as part of the MITN Purchasing Group.  Anyone can register on BidNet Direct to see available bids.  Vendors can select automatic bid notification in order to receive emails every time RCS opens a competitive bid opportunity that matches their company's specialty.  BidNet Direct handles Requests for Proposals (RFPs) and Requests for Quotes (RFQs) in a secure and confidential manner which meets best practices and legislative guidelines.

RCS appreciates the interest we receive from local, state, national, and global vendors wishing to do business with our district.  We value our partnerships with all of our vendors.  The Purchasing Department encourages companies to register with our online competitive bidding partner BidNet Direct and subscribe to receive automatic notifications of opportunities with us.  Purchasing that is below the competitive bidding threshold amount is conducted by RCS staff reaching out to vendors for their quotations of goods and services directly.  We do not solicit information from vendors until a department or school identifies a specific need.
