The Open Enrollment application period is for CURRENT Rochester Schools  elementary students whose family would like them to attend a school other than their home school. *

* The home school is the school a student is assigned to according to their home address. 

Open Enrollment for the 2023-24 school year is closed. 

Open Enrollment for the 2024-2025 school year will open in late winter/early spring of 2024.

 

• The Open Enrollment application period is generally in February or March for the following school year. 

• Applications will be available to complete and submit online, during the open enrollment application period.

• NEW elementary students enrolling for the upcoming school year can complete the Open Enrollment application during the online enrollment process. 

• Please Note:  Only select elementary buildings will be accepting Open Enrollment applications based on enrollment projections. Middle and high schools do not allow students to attend under open enrollment unless the student has a sibling who is enrolled to attend the requested school during the upcoming school year. 

• Open Enrolled students do not receive district transportation.

Local school districts are required by law to verify birth dates of all pupils entering school for the first time.  Rochester Community Schools requests parents or guardians to present, at the time of registration, a certified birth certificate.  If you need to obtain a certified birth certificate for your child, you can do so by contacting the county or state where your child was born.  The state of Michigan now allows requests for certified birth certificates through their on-line service.

Schools of Choice is a program that allows school districts in Michigan to enroll students who live outside of their district. Rochester Schools DOES NOT participate in Schools of Choice.

Q:  My child is not due to have his/her immunizations updated until the summer.  Should I wait until then to enroll? 

 A:  No, don’t wait.  Complete the online enrollment as soon as possible. Submit immunization records you currently have and turn the updates in at your child’s school when you get them. 

Enrollments submitted without any immunization records will NOT be processed and will be returned to your ParentVUE account so that you can attach the required immunization records. 

Q:  My child has not had their vision screening yet.  Should I wait to enroll?

A:  No, don’t wait.  Complete the online enrollment as soon as possible.  It is Michigan law that every kindergartner has their vision screened before they can start school, however, you may turn that proof in at your child’s school at the beginning of the school year.

Q:  After I complete the online enrollment, will the Enrollment Office contact me?

A:  The Enrollment Office will send a confirmation email upon acceptance of your child’s enrollment. 

Q:  Where can I find the kindergarten age waiver?

A: During the online enrollment process you will be asked to agree to the kindergarten age waiver if your child is not 5 by September 1st of the year you are enrolling for kindergarten. Per Michigan law, a student must turn 5, on or before December 1st of the year they are enrolling to kindergarten.
