Rochester Community Schools believes that effective communication is essential for maintaining healthy community partnerships. The district website remains a valuable resource. Emergency information and school closings will be posted on the homepage using a page pop. Other sources of information include publications, podcasts and social media.
CONNECT

Community input is valued and appreciated. There are several ways to connect with teachers, administrators, district representatives and the Board of Education.
PODCASTS

The RCS podcast series is created for general educational and informational purposes to provide updates, celebrate excellence and provide windows into RCS buildings.
PUBLICATIONS

The district distributes three award-winning publications per year to the greater Rochester community. Additional hard copies are available at each school. Digital copies are posted online.
SOCIAL MEDIA

Social media can be an effective way to stay connected and learn about the exciting student programs and services in the Rochester Community School District.
ADVERTISING

In order to minimize intrusions for students and employees, RCS utilizes the Peachjar platform to distribute electronic materials to the school community.

PARENT SQUARE

RCS families receive messages through ParentSquare once their student is enrolled in the district. Community members may also sign up to receive updates.
SURVEYS

In compliance with the State School Aid Act, district survey questions and results will be posted on the district's website, beginning with the fiscal 2025-26 school year.
Award-winning Communications Excellence

Rochester Community Schools earned the esteemed National School Public Relations Association (NSPRA) Golden Achievement Award, which recognizes outstanding, strategic work in all aspects of school public relations, communications, marketing and engagement. The award represents the coordinated efforts of the district in communicating about the non-homestead operating millage. The entry “Securing Resources for Bright Futures” was recognized in the bond/finance campaign category. NSPRA received more than 2,200 entries in the 2024 National School Communication Awards program.

In 2023, Rochester Community Schools received the NSPRA Award of Merit for Social Media: Celebrating Pride in Excellence Through Social Media in Rochester Community Schools. That same year, the Michigan Schools Public Relations Association (MSPRA) provided an award of excellence, recognizing the district's newsletter publication.
In 2019, the district was awarded MSPRA Gold Medallion for responsible school communications. This honor recognized RCS for developing a comprehensive program to promote the ways our school environment allows all members of the RCS community to feel safe, valued and respected.
