The mission of West Middle School is to ensure high levels of learning for our school community. 

 

West will be a place where:

curriculum is aligned to district/state standards and benchmarks that direct student learning

  • Teachers will design lessons aligned to the current curriculum benchmarks and/or Grade Level Content Expectations (GLCEs)

instructional strategies reflect best practice and promote engagement and achievement of all students

  • Teachers will research, study and implement “best practice” instructional strategies.
  • Teachers will continuously evaluate and adjust instructional strategies to improve student learning.

assessment is used as an instructional tool to ensure quality student learning and to encourage staff self-evaluation

  • Teachers will use assessments that are aligned to the current curriculum benchmarks and/or Grade Level Content Expectations (GLCEs) that incorporate different learning styles to evaluate student learning.
  • Teachers will use research-based assessment strategies to collaborate and to design, and adapt instruction to ensure student learning.
