Welcome to the World of PE

Welcome to Physical Education

       Welcome to West Physical Education!  As teachers of P.E. at West it is our goal to provide a curricula that is exciting and motivational to all students at all fitness levels and abilities.  Students will learn to make good lifetime health and fitness choices and develop a positive attitude towards physical activity.  Along with this increased knowledge, students at West will be participating in a program that is both beneficial and FUN!  We hope that you will join us in promoting this program, helping to make your child more aware of the immense benefits of a healthy lifestyle.

     Physical fitness and wellness are the focal points in all three years of  P.E. at West.  Components include cardiovascular endurance, muscular strength and endurance as well as flexibility.  Students will perform at their own level of competency, as this program recognizes individual differences.  Principles of warm-up and cool-down, safety procedures and fitness benefits are highlighted.  In addition, students will monitor heart rate and understand the various principles of training.  A variety of team and individual sports and activity will be explored at each level.
