Greetings from Michael Behrmann, Principal of VHMS!
It is an honor to serve the Van Hoosen School Community as its principal. We have an incredible mix of students, staff, and parents that work together to make Van Hoosen Middle School a wonderful place to learn. Our mission, "Excellence in Education: Learning, growing, changing for today and tomorrow," truly reflects our commitment and purpose. Recently, Van Hoosen was named one of 123 schools in the State of Michigan to "Beat the Odds" when compared to schools of similar size and demographic composition. Additionally, this year we have qualified as a "Reward" school, ranked in the 99th percentile of the State of Michigan. Recently, within a one week span in March 2013, our wrestling team won the Oakland County Tournament, our 8th Grade band received scores of all 1's on their performance pieces at MSBOA Festival, our 7th/8th Grade Choir qualified for State Choral Festival, and our Science Olympiad Team came in 6th in Oakland County out of 30 middle schools and will be going on to the State competition!
