The SCHS Music Boosters is a "parent fueled" organization whose sole purpose is to support the Stoney Creek High School Music Program and students' musical development through financial and volunteer assistance.  If a student is currently participating in the music program, his or her parents are automatically members of the Music Boosters organization.  Being a part of the SCHS Music Boosters is a terrific way for parents to become involved in the Band and Choir programs and to show their support for the wonderful students.  Parents are encouraged to attend Music Booster meetings and lend a hand in the variety of activities that take place throughout the year. 

 

This gives a brief explanation of what you can volunteer for:

 

Marching Band Registration/School Year Band Registration (June, Rose Marie Polulak Chair) Work with VP Band Affairs on setting up, taking care of assigned station and tearing down area.

Uniform Room Marching Band/Indoor Band (All Year, Kristi McLaren Chair) Work with Chairperson to help fit students with their uniforms. Some will help fit and others will perform minor alterations so that each student is properly fit. Hand out band uniforms to students prior to game and collect them after game. Store uniforms properly for next game. Hand out and collect indoor band uniforms at beginning and end of season.

Band Camp (August, Stacey Anason Chair) Volunteers are needed to load a truck with all the instruments as well as all of the donations brought in by parents. Help is also needed to unload the truck after camp is completed. Chaperones travel with the students to camp, sleep in the cabins with approximately 12 kids and support the band director with group activities as needed. Festivals/Invitationals (September and October, Need Chair) Work with chairperson to load trucks with instruments and help unload if required. Chaperone on the buses to and from the festival. Keep order in the buses.

Football Games (August thru October, Kim Huss and Dan Madaus Co-Chairs) Uniform Room – Hand out band uniforms to students prior to game and collect them after game. Store uniforms properly for next game. Stand Chaperones keep student decorum controlled in the stands. Help hand out water and apples after halftime show for home and away games.

Post-Concert After Glows (October, December, May, Traci Chupailo Chair) Set up tables for deserts and drinks to be put out for after the concerts. Tear down and clean up is also required. Serve drinks and make sure snacks are out and served to the concert attendees and students.

Marching Band Banquet/Event (NEW – December, Needs Chair) Help with chairperson set up the Senior portion of the banquet. Some will help with the sign up and seating, others with items needed to provide a great experience for the students.

Food/Drink/Supply Donations For almost all of the above events, we will have a sign up for parents to bring in drinks, snacks, supplies. Any help that you can provide in these areas directly supports your musician at Stoney Creek.

State Solo and Ensemble Host (March, Kim Huss, Kim Ryan, Traci Chapailo and Dan Madaus Chairs) Set up, sell and tear down concessions to performers and spectators. Set up, feed and tear down hospitality room for judges. Work in parking lot to direct traffic to correct entrance, help unload and load equipment as needed.

Google Calendars – SCHS Marching Band, SCHS Concert Ensembles, Choir Complete calendar for each group, just look for name above and add to your current google calendar or smart phone/table calendar.

Email All board member emails can be found on the SCHS Music website as well as the Stoney Creek High School website under music department. Chairperson emails are typically given as needed to volunteers in that area.

 

Fundraising (Tammy Watson, VP of Fundraising) Fundraising is done on an “as needed” basis. In the past we have done car washes, pie sales, Red Wing games, cooking classes, etc. Please look in the weekly updates for any upcoming fundraising opportunities. Student Activity Fund (Tammy Watson, Kim Huss and Stacey Anason, Chairs) This is a specific activity which allows the musicians and choir students to fundraise for their own benefit. 75% of the proceeds go to the students account for use with any SCHS music need (band camp, spirit wear, uniform fees, band travel, band banquet, etc). 25% of the students fundraising is put into the general band booster account for the entire bands needs.
