Students' Tips for Getting Good Grades:

  • Use an assignment notebook.
  • Have a separate folder for each class.
  • Have phone numbers for classmates in case you have questions.
  • Keep your locker and back pack neat.
  • Get everything in order for the next day.
  • Use class time to get started on your homework.
  • Break large assignments down into smaller parts.
  • Learn how to adapt to different teachers.
  • Learn each teachers' rules and procedures.
  • Be in school, on time, everyday.
  • Always do your homework.
  • Participate in class.
  • Do extra credit work whenever possible.

Parent Tips for Helping:

  • Help your child to identify specific academic goals and steps needed to accomplish them.
  • Encourage your child to use self-monitoring checklists to increase completion of school assignments and improve academic performance.
  • Direct your child to use planners to record homework assignments and plan ahead for long-term projects.
  • Maintain communication with your child's teachers.
  • Assist your child in developing a routine at home that allows him or her to achieve a healthy balance of all activities.
  • Give your child frequent praise for his or her efforts and accomplishments.
  • Maintain regular interest in his or her education and activities.
  • Spend time with your child while they do their homework.
  • Encourage him or her to work on large projects or long-term assignments consistently and complete them on time.
