Course Description

This course is one of two courses designed to introduce students to the visual arts. Students in this course are introduced to the basics of three-dimensional art, specifically sculpture, ceramics, and jewelry/metalsmithing. Materials used include clay, paper, plaster, metal, and collage and more. Through the work completed in these areas, students learn the concepts common to all visual arts: elements and principals of design, color theory, the design process and creative problem solving. Ultimately, students create quality artwork while becoming fluent in the visual language. Students will also give an oral presentation on a 3-D artist.
