Background Information

Welcome,

A bit of background about myself.  I graduated from Warren Cousino in 1993, where I enjoyed playing football and running track.
I then started my college career at Saginaw Valley State University (SVSU).  I attended SVSU for a year and a half where I continued running on their track team, until I decided to transfer to Eastern Michigan Univeristy to persue my interest in working with students with special needs.  At Eastern I decided to focus more on my education so I stopped running competitively and focused more on my studies.  In 1998 I graduated from Eastern Michigan with a Bachelors degree with a major in Special Education in Emotionally Impairment and a minor in English/Literature.  I successfully completed the state tests in both areas and began teaching the following fall.

I moved out to the Muskegon area to work at a day treatment facility for the emotionally impaired.  I worked for a district called Fruitport where I learned how to handle severely emotionally disturbed children.
After a year in Fruitport my sister and parents decided to move into new homes and being I had my contractors license and the know how I moved back home to help them update their investments.  I interviewed with Rochester and began working for them at West Middle School.  I worked at West for two years where I learned a bit more working as a resource teacher.

Two years later I recieved an offer I couldn't resist, a two year stint in Maui, Hawaii.  I worked as a teacher at a center based program for 5 months until they closed the program and then I was transferred to a self contained Categorical Program for Emotionally Impaired where I finished my two year contract up.

I then headed back to Michigan to complete my master's in administration and start a new life with my now wonderful wife.  While returning back to Michigan, I was transferred from West Middle to Rochester High.  I have been a resource teacher at RHS for 10 years now.  I also recieved my Master's Degree from SVSU as an Administrator.  At the current time, I enjoy the students so much I hve no plans on leaving the teaching field for administration.

On top of my education, I enjoy the outdoors---contracting, landscaping, etc.  I also have devoted myself to marine education and scuba diving.  While in Hawaii I logged in over 600 dives---many solo dives.  On top of my other jobs, I also coach both track and football at the middle school levels.

In 2005 I married my beautiful wife who we now have one amazing daughter who was born on November 13, 2010.  Being a dad is such an amazing experience I must say.  I thought I enjoyed summers before, but now I get to enjoy them even more.
I am an active person and I encourage each and every one of your sons/daughters to do the same.  Life is short so you must make the best of the time that we have here.  Get out and have fun, but along the way one must remember what got you there, your EDUCATION!!!

I look forward to working with everyone this year!!!!  Have a great year.
