Welcome to AP Biology

Advanced Placement Biology is designed to be the equivalent of a two-semester introductory college biology course. Students begin the first semester by reviewing the summer reading assignments. As recommended by the College Board, students develop an understanding of the major topics of biology, including biochemistry, molecular biology, cells, heredity, evolution, organisms and populations. Through a variety of laboratory experiences, including those recommended by the College Board, students apply their understanding of scientific concepts. Advanced Placement Biology students are strongly encouraged, but not required, to take the advanced placement examination.
