Meet Ms. Cottone!

About Ms. Cottone

Hello, Reuther Middle School! I am looking forward to teaching mathematics for grades 7 and 8.  I am  excited to begin another school year that is  memorable while working with such excellent and devoted students, parents, and fellow Reuther staff members!

Prior to work at Reuther, I taught fifth grade at Hampton Elementary School, a feeder school to Reuther. I graduated from Oakland University (Go Grizzlies!) with a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education, Mathematics, and Language Arts. I have earned a Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership and am currently working on my Specialist Degree and PhD in Educational Policy. After taking extensive education courses throughout my college and professional career, I truly have come to appreciate the profession of teaching.  In addition to teaching middle school, I have shared my love of music and mathematics by teaching piano and tutoring math to children for the past thirteen years.

I am a proud lifelong resident of Rochester Hills and the Rochester Community School District. I have attended Brewster Elementary for kindergarten, Musson Elementary School for first through fifth grades, Van Hoosen Middle School, and Adams High School.

My parents continue to live in Rochester Hills.  Both of my loving and supportive parents are my role models.  My father is a principal in the Troy School District and my mother was a high school mathematics teacher in the Lake Orion School District and currently tutors high school and college mathematics. My older brother is a fifth grade teacher in Troy while his wife is a second grade teacher at University Hills Elementary in Rochester. Additionally, my younger brother is a middle school teacher at Van Hoosen Middle School in Rochester. I come from a family of devoted and compassionate teachers who all share the love of educating children!

Additionally, in March of 2011, I had a beautiful baby boy named Anthony! He keeps me busy and is my inspiration to all things in life. In my free time, I have a lot of fun going to sporting events (Go Tigers! Go Pistons! Go Red Wings!), attending concerts, playing basketball and volleyball, spoiling my two toddler nephews, painting, photography, and traveling. I also have an adorable golden doodle, named Enzo.

I look forward to working with your child and you throughout the year. I believe that together, with hard work and dedication, we can make this a very successful year for the seventh and eighth grade classes!
