The Rochester Community Schools Foundation is proud to provide the following scholarship opportunities. All scholarships are awarded based on available funding.

Amy Aplin Memorial Endowment Scholarship Fund
Established in 2000 by Mr. and Mrs. Lee Aplin, in memory of their daughter Amy. Amy Aplin was an English teacher at Rochester High School and Reuther Middle School. She was tragically killed in an auto accident on May 30, 1999. Memorial contributions and a gift from her parents established an endowment fund, that will continue in Amy’s memory forever. The annual $2,000 scholarship is available to Rochester, Adams and Stoney Creek High School seniors who plan on attending college or vocational/technical schools. Financial and academic achievements are important, however the applicant should possess the characteristics that Amy exemplified. Individuals shall be well-rounded and active members of their community.
The Susan Jarrell Memorial Scholarship
Established in 2013 by Stoney Creek High School in memory of French teacher Susan Jarrell, this $500 scholarship will be awarded to a graduating Stoney Creek High School senior who has excelled in French classes and exemplifies Mme. Jarrell's exceptional qualities and love of life.
The Judith Freund Scholarship
The Judith Freund Scholarship was established in 2010 to honor her 23 years of service to the students, parents, and staff of the Rochester Community Schools and to celebrate her years of dedication to education and teaching students with special needs. It will provide an academic scholarship to a graduating senior from Adams High School. The $1,000 scholarship will be awarded annually to a graduating senior who plans to major in the field of special education OR a student who has been in the Adams High School special education program and will now be in a degree program at a two or four-year university.
Leslie Gouldey Memorial Scholarship
The Leslie Gouldey Memorial Scholarship was established in memory of Leslie Gouldey, wife and mother, by a donation from the Gouldey Family and memorial contributions. The annual $1,000 scholarship will be awarded to a graduating senior from Adams, Rochester or Stoney Creek High School who has overcome adversity to demonstrate leadership, community involvement and academic achievement.
Erin Grobbel Memorial Scholarship
Established in 2014, by the Grobbel Family, in memory of their daughter Erin. The intent of this $1,000 scholarship is to support a student from Rochester, Adams or Stoney Creek who has demonstrated a strong commitment to the performing arts during their high school years by participating in a variety of roles during their education. This can be participation in the annual musical and/or plays, MFFA, stage design or crew, student direct or vocal arts or Summer Musical Theater program. The student ideally is one who displays a diverse participation in musical theater. See Scholarship Descriptions for criteria necessary to apply.
Daniel P. Hickey Scholarship
The Daniel P. Hickey Scholarship was established by donations in honor of Dan Hickey, the first principal of Stoney Creek High School. The $1,000 scholarship will be awarded to a Stoney Creek student who demonstrates leadership in an organized group at Stoney Creek High School.
The Alice G. Horter Scholarship
Established in 2006, The Alice G. Horter Scholarship was created by a generous bequest to Rochester High School by Mrs. Alice G. Horter, a longtime Rochester resident. A $3,000 scholarship will be awarded annually to four graduating Rochester High School students who have exhibited school spirit, perseverance, character and academic achievement, with a preference to full time students demonstrating a financial need. The Rochester Community Schools Foundation will administer the disbursement of monies on behalf of the Alice G. Horter Scholarship fund. The students selected will receive $3,000 payable to the college or university they will attend.
John M. Schultz Scholarship
Established in 2006, The John M. Schultz Scholarship will provide an athletic scholarship to a graduating senior from Adams, Rochester or Stoney Creek High School. The scholarship will be awarded annually to a student who has been active in athletics, with a preference to a full time student demonstrating a financial need. A $1,000 scholarship will be awarded annually to a graduating senior to be used for tuition, fees or books. The funds will be disbursed to the recipient and chosen college or university in a single payment of $1,000. Applicants must meet the grade point requirements for participation in the athletic program.
The Judith K. Long Scholarship
The Judith K. Long Scholarship will be established by donations from family and friends of Judith K. Long. The intent of the scholarship is to help a graduating senior from Adams High School, where Judie taught for 26 years, attend trade or vocational school. The $500.00 scholarship will be awarded annually to a graduating senior who has been overlooked or underprivileged, yet shows enthusiasm and determination for learning advanced skills. Judie was able to reach out to young adults who didn't fit the traditional academic mold. With her support, these students have gone on to create vibrant, independent, and productive lives.
PTA Council Scholarship
The Rochester Community PTA Council scholarships will be awarded to one graduating senior from each of the four RCS high schools. The students must be members of their PTSA if their school has a PTSA, maintain a minimum 2.5 grade point average, be college-bound, and have participated in PTA/PTSA activities or have demonstrated leadership qualities that exemplify the mission of the PTA that advocates for the education of all children. The scholarships will be a minimum of $500 each.
Rochester High School Athletic Boosters Scholarship
The Rochester High School Athletic Boosters Scholarship will award four $500 scholarships. This award has the following criteria: Must be a Rochester High School graduating senior, must be a letter winner of an MHSAA recognized sport, must have a 2.5 cumulative GPA, award must be applied toward continuing education. The application essay should include what participation in RHS athletics meant to the student.
