M-STEP Testing for Juniors
Completion of the M-STEP test is a graduation requirement for all Rochester Community Schools students. For any students absent on one or both of their testing days, a make-up testing session will be required. Parents, please have you and your student plan any daytime appointments or commitments around these testing days to avoid missing additional class time for re-scheduling a test.

For a preview of the online test format and sample questions, go online to the Michigan Dept. of Education’s practice site. The login ID and password are listed there on the screen. Use this site to become familiar wtih the online tools used and the types of answers. Students are also visiting this site during class time during their social studies classes in order to provide familiarity with it for the actual testing days. For additional information on the M-STEP, visit the Michigan Dept. of Education’s M-STEP information page.

  • All junior students will be testing on only 2 days of the 3 day window allotted for testing.
  • Those two testing periods will consist of 3 hours, which includes time allotted for breaks.
  • During each testing period, students will be taking two of the tests in the four subject areas: English, social studies, math, and science.
