On Wednesday, June 5, fifth graders at McGregor Elementary School stood in place to form the year "2013" then released blue and yellow balloons into the air as they bid farewell to their elementary school years and looked forward to attending middle school in the fall. After the balloons were released, the students sat in formation for a memorable photo.

The Green Committee
Mrs. Wilkins's first graders proudly display their "green" fabric book bags at McGregor Elementary School. Sewn by the PTA Green Committee, these bags are triple recycled! They began as new blue jeans. When worn out, their owners donated them to the Rochester Neighborhood House Clothes Closet. Unable to sell certain jeans because of tears or stains, the Clothes Closet gave the bags to the McGregor Green Committee. The Green Committee cut up the jeans and sewed them into bags. Other bags were made from donated fabric. The first graders are excited to have durable bags, as they travel back and forth to school every day with books to read. The Green Committee is happy to have earned another "Green Point" for McGregor, which will help the school be designated as an "Official Michigan Green School."
