School History

The school board voted to accept a gift from Howard McGregor on Sept. 1959 for an elementary school. Ground breaking took place on Nov. 8, 1960 and Howard L. McGregor Jr. was present to turn the first shovel of dirt. The school opened on schedule in Sept. 1961. Ronald Kevern, the principal at Harrison school (which is now the administration building) was the first principal. The school was dedicated in February 1962. McGregor just celebrated its 50th Anniversary.

School Update

McGregor was renovated starting in the winter of 2001. There is a new gym, cafeteria, and specials area added to the back of the building. Classrooms were updated and enlarged. A new bus loop was added off of Livernois to provide a safer entrance for students who walk to school.

School Today

Today McGregor still has a dedicated group of teachers, staff and parents.   McGregor has a student population of approximately 450 and it is located in the city of Rochester at the end of West First Street.
