Hello Parents!

Please read through the following information carefully and also review our  "Welcome Letter and Supply List 2017", found under the "Files & Folders" section.

Our first day of school will be Tuesday, September 5th. It will be a half-day, and dismissal will be at 11:25 AM. All kindergarten students will attend on Tuesday, September 5th. On this day, parents please plan on spending the first 30-40 minutes with your child helping him or her to navigate the classroom. You will be completing a scavenger hunt together along with some important paperwork!

On the first day of school please bring the following items with you:

1. Your child's completed transportation form. (Please print this form at home - it can be found on my classroom webpage under "Files & Folders".)

2. A healthy (peanut free) snack and a water bottle that is clearly labeled with your child’s name.

3. Your child’s school supplies. (Please find the supply list on my webpage also.)

4. A 4 X 6’’ family photo, labeled on the backside with your child’s name.

After our scavenger hunt, we will wave goodbye to the parents, and get busy having fun and learning! This is an exciting day for you and your child! Sometimes there are tears, but usually only from mommy and daddy!  This is normal, and please rest assured that your child will fall into our routines quickly.  I am so excited to share in the memory of this important milestone with you and your child!

Please note that on Wednesday, September 6th, ONLY kindergarteners with last names beginning with A-M will attend. On Thursday, September 7th ONLY kindergarteners with last names beginning with N-Z will attend. Friday, September 8th all of our kindergarten students will attend school.

I’m sure that you have many questions, and I hope to help you feel comfortable and informed. You will receive more information from me on the first day of school and a lot more on Curriculum Night (Thursday, September 14th). Please do not hesitate to contact me at sdesjardins1@rochester.k12.mi.us. I am looking forward to a wonderful school year together!
