From FIRST: Paving the way to success

We all want the best for our kids and the FIRST Tech Challenge is a great way to invest in your student's future. Kids in FTC get excited about learning and apply classroom concepts to real-world problems. They also gain access to over $13.5 million in college scholarships!  FTC, students learn Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) skills through hands-on robotics competition. They will learn the engineering process and computer programming. They will also gain skills in communication, public speaking, and team work. When a student joins a FTC Team, they join a community of over 20,000 youths who are excited about using technology to build a better future for everyone.

FTC is designed for students in grades 7-12 to compete head to head, using a sports model. Teams are responsible for designing, building, and programming their robots to compete in an alliance format against other teams. The robot kit is reusable from year-to-year and is programmed using a variety of languages. Teams, including coaches, mentors and volunteers, are required to develop strategy and build robots based on sound engineering principles. Awards are given for the competition as well as for community outreach, design, and other real-world accomplishments.
