Mr. Cornish - Principal
Mr. Cornish is now in his 28th year as the principal of Hamlin Elementary School. He began his career in Rochester as a teacher at University Hills Elementary School teaching fourth and sixth grade. Mr. Cornish is married and has two children. His son Jason works as a landscape design artist. His daughter Heather, has graduated from Oakland University and is currently teaching second grade in Rochester. Gary and his wife Michelle enjoy traveling and playing new golf courses wherever they go.
Mr. Cornish is optomistic about the growth that students are making in the area of literacy. He is proud of the commitment of the Hamlin staff and looking forward to a positive school year. The staff at Hamlin are involved in ongoing professional development.
Mr. Cornish attended Wayne State University where he earned a Bachelors Degree in Elementary Education. While teaching, he went on to earn a Masters Degree in Educational Administration. Mr. Cornish is proud of the parents, student and staff of Hamlin Elementary School for their commitment to making Hamlin a caring and student focused building.
