Baldwin will once again have a Girls on the Run (GOTR) team here at Baldwin.

If you don't know, GOTR is an "after school program that uses the power of running to help prepare girls for a lifetime of self-respect and healthy living.

Through interactive activities such as running, playing games, and discussing important issues, participants learn how to celebrate being girls.  The program focuses on building self-esteem and improving emotional health.

During the 10 week program, girls are empowered with a greater self-awareness, a sense of achievement and a foundation in team building to help them become strong and self-confident young women."

  • The program is for girls in grades 3-5.
  • The team will meet on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3:20 to 4:35 at Baldwin.
  • The season starts the week of September 21 and ends the week of November 23, 2015.
  •  There is a celebratory 5K that will take place on November 22, 2015 at a place yet to be determined. The 5K is not mandatory.

This program is coordinated through the YMCA and there is a $126 fee to participate. The YMCA does offer financial assistance if needed. Please contact Bonnie at the North Oakland YMCA directly for information about scholarships. Registration for Girls on the Run can be done online, over the phone with the front desk of the YMCA, or in person at the YMCA North Oakland located in Auburn Hills. http://www.gotrdetroit.org/get-involved/
