Cheryl Ogonowski, Rochester Community Schools K-12 music program coordinator and a K-5 general music teacher, has been selected to receive a Matilda Award by the Music Department at Oakland University. This prestigious award recognizes distinguished alumni as well as undergraduates. While the Matilda Award traditionally goes to music performers, this year marks the first time that a music educator has been selected. Cheryl Ogonowski earned her Master's Degree in Music Education from Oakland University and has taught music classes at all levels from Pre-K through college. She has held positions teaching band, vocal music, general music, college-level beginning theory, and performing experiences for children. Congratulations Cheryl!
